These are a few of my favorite things...

These are some of my recent cravings, they change very quickly but I thought I would document them in my blog so we could look back at it and laugh. They are: peach candy rings, Cheezits, Soft Serve yogurt and sorbet, Eatzi's sandwiches, lemonade, sprite, watermelon, pineapple, and and kind of pasta. If you can't tell, I am feeling alot better. I don't know if it was that I was so distracted with the little ones last week or finishing up my first trimerster, but the day after I posted my last blog post, I started feeling better. I still have waves of nausea but they don't linger like they have been for the past 7 weeks. I am eating dinner most nights but I still can't cook. I don't know why but the thought of it makes me gag. I promise I will post some belly pics soon.

Exhausted

Tomorrow will be the first day of school for the 2011-2012 school year. I will be teaching Kindergarten again this year. I am excited for this upcoming year. I can't wait to see all of their eager and excited faces tomorrow. It will be a long day of rules, routines, practice and a lot of blank stares. I have been working really hard to get my classroom ready and organized and it is finally ready to go! I don't have anything to post about the nugget. I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks and then 2 weeks after that to find out the sex! I have been feeling the same. I am a little disappointed because I am officially going into my second trimester and I thought I would be feeling a lot better by this point. I know everyone's pregnancies are different and I am very thankful that it hasn't been worse. I am off to cook dinner, ( yes, I am actually cooking tonight) finish the laundry and go to bed very early.

12 week update

No big updates with the nugget except that it is growing fast and has a strong heartbeat. Yesterday, I got to hear it on the Doppler device, it was absolutely amazing! I have heard how it might take the doctor a minute to find the heartbeat, but not for me. As soon as she put it on my stomach, you could hear it. It was like music to my ears, I definitely am tearing up right now as I am writing this. It all has become so real. It has always felt real, but since the 9 week sonogram, hearing the heartbeat and sharing our great news, has all made it so exciting and crazy! I also have recently found out that a friend of mine who used to teach with me is having twins in January. She and her husband live really close to us and I was exciting to go through this journey with her and also have some possible play dates in the future! I go back in for my 16 week appointment and then again at 18 weeks to find out the gender. I don't have my 18 week appointment set but I am thinking that will be sometime the week of September 19th! I will keep you posted.

New Recipe

If you know me well, you know that I LOVE to cook and try new recipes. I haven't had the stomach for it since I found out that I was pregnant. Yes, that means I haven't cooked all summer.... poor Austin:( So, I am making up for it when I start feeling better. I am going to start with this yummy recipe I came across on Pinterest. I thought I would share it in case someone wanted to try it before me and give me some feedback. It is a soup and with the heat and all, it might take a while for me to try it. We will see. Here it is:

Tomato Tortellini Soup

Tomato Tortellini Soup Recipe

Ingredients

1 package (9 ounces) refrigerated cheese tortellini

2 cans (10-3/4 ounces each) reduced-sodium condensed tomato soup, undiluted

2 cups vegetable broth

2 cups 2% milk

2 cups half-and-half cream

1/2 cup chopped oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Additional shredded Parmesan cheese, optional

Directions:

Cook tortellini according to package directions.

Meanwhile, in a Dutch oven, combine the soup, broth, milk, cream, tomatoes and seasonings. Heat through, stirring frequently. Drain tortellini; carefully add to soup. Stir in cheese. Sprinkle each serving with additional cheese if desired. Yield: 10 servings (2-1/2 quarts).

11 weeks!

This past 7 weeks have gone by so quickly. I cannot believe I am almost through my first trimester. I have been feeling okay. I start the day off feeling great and then by about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, I start feeling lethargic and nauseated. I usually just lay down and take it easy and I feel a lot better. My cravings this week have been: shortbread cookies, cold cut sandwiches, cheeseburgers, chicken salad, pancakes and yes, pickles. My cravings are very different every week. I go to the doctor again next Tuesday the 9th and I will keep you updated. We are feeling very blessed.

Surprise!

I have waiting to make it official to the blog world and I finally can, I AM PREGNANT! I am due February 21st. We are so excited and cannot wait to meet the nugget. That would be our nickname for the little one. We found out on June 15th and we have waited until this last week to tell everyone. We went to our first doctor's appointment last Friday, July 22nd,  there, we found out our due date and that I was 9 weeks and 3 days along. As of today, I am 10 weeks and 3 days. Last weekend we started telling close friends and family. Everyone seems just as excited as we are. It will be the first grand baby and greatgrandbaby on both sides so we are very happy to make that contribution to everyone! Yes, we are finding out the sex and we think that will be at the end of September. I have been feeling okay with some headaches, a lot of nausea and a ton of food aversions. I will say that I feel lucky considering some of my friends were REALLY sick in their pregnancies. Here is the nugget's first picture. I will post more soon :)
