Happy Birthday to my sweet, shaggy Shih tzu!

Yesterday was Mya's 8th birthday. No party for her this year, I figured I would stick to the odd numbered birthdays for the parties. She got 2 new toys that were just her size, a small bone and a Spinkles cupcake. Yes, a Sprinkles cupcake. It was a doggy cupcake that Spinkes carries in their stores now. My friend told me about it so I went and got her one and she LOVED it! I think she had a fantastic birthday. This year we were especially happy to celebrate her birthday as well as her speedy recovery from surgery and her great health.

Praying for Rain

As I watched the evening news tonight, I was listening to all of the news regarding the uncontrollable wildfires and extreme wildfire conditions all over the south, I then started praying for some rain. It is the only answer to this problem. Just yesterday I was at my parent's lake house and the water levels were so low. It is amazing what the lack of rain will do to our surroundings. It is also way too hot for this time of year so if we all just pray for some rain tonight, relief will come. I have faith.

Cool Down

I cannot get over how hot it is already, I have already started thinking of ways to stay cooler and here is what I have come up:
1. Lemonade from Chick fil A. I don't even eat there, I just stop by and get some lemonade. They also sell it by the gallon. I highly recommend it!
Chick-fil-A® Lemonade
2. Tropical Starbursts- they are really refreshing.

3. Cold showers. I have never been a fan but I had the bright idea last summer after I worked out one day. I thought about it the other day and thought, "why don't I do this for every shower?" So, I tried it and now I don't take warm or hot showers. Reasons I like them: saves energy, they are really refreshing, better for your hair and they don't steam up your bathroom!

4. Aloe Vera Lotion
Jergens® Soothing Aloe Relief Skin Cooling Moisturizer

Good Luck staying cool my blog friends!

It is going to be a hot one, Skylar

What We have Been Up to...

1. Working in our yard. We re-did one of the flower beds in the back.

2. Catching up with friends. I have been having lunch with lots of friends in the past two weeks. I wasn't able to do a whole lot in the last few months because of work and grad school so I am trying to make up for it now!

3. Austin started a new job! Yes, Austin left his big firm job and went to a smaller litigation boutique. This amazing opportunity presented itself and Austin took it. We are so happy with this decision and he started this last Monday. He is already loving it.

4.Finishing up miscellaneous projects around the house. Mainly the living room and dining room. If you have been over, you know exactly what I mean.

5. I have been enjoying my summer break. It is amazing how busy I can keep myself during the day. I could totally get used to this:) Austin is also loving it because I have been cooking for him more often.

6. Last but not least, cheering on the Mavericks. We had so much fun watching the games and rooting for them. No, we didn't get out for the parade today but I watched part of it on TV.

Bye for now,

BRIDESMAIDS

I went yesterday with my dear friend Megan to see this movie. I LOVED it! I think I laughed the entire time. I would love to see it again because there were so many funny parts, I bet I missed a few. If you haven't had the opportunity to see this movie, run don't walk to the theater. It is a perfect way to spend a hot summer afternoon.

A Day with Paige and Piper

Oh, how I love these girls! I went out to visit them in Southlake on Tuesday. We started with lunch at Brio's and then went back to their house to play with Piper and have a good catch-up session when Piper went down for her nap. I hadn't seen Piper since the beginning of April. She has grown so much. I can't believe all of the stuff that she is doing. She is at a really cute and fun stage. Here is a picture of her. I will also provide a link to Paige's blog, she has way cuter pics up. I hope we can have more girl time soon!
