Date with Daddy

On Sunday, I met up with my mom and sister for lunch and some shopping. Katherine Grace stayed behind with Austin for some daddy and daughter bonding. Austin sent me this picture while I was gone. Katherine Grace loves her daddy and apparently all of her stuffed animals as well.

Playdate with Cade and Logan

Our friends, Daniel and Melissa came over this afternoon with their adorable twins, Cade and Logan. They are only a month older than Katherine Grace. It will be so great to watch them all grow up together. Here are some pictures; we had a little too much fun making them all pose for the camera!

1 Month Pics!

1 Month Stats

We had her 1 month check-up this morning. Here are her stats:


Weight: 8 pounds, 4 ounces (26th percentile)

Length: 21 inches (50th percentile)

Head: 14 1/4 inches (45th percentile)


The doctor said she looked great and seemed to be growing at a steady pace. I will post her 1 month pictures later.

You have a baby, I eat your candy....

Katherine Grace's arrival has been pretty rough on the dogs. We were thinking they had started to adjust, so we thought. Yesterday, I walked by the candy bowl in our den. I noticed that the bowl was empty. The day before it was filled with chocolate Easter eggs. The Dove ones that are individually wrapped in foil. I thought this was weird because it was full the last time I looked at it, a day or two ago. I normally wouldn't think twice but Austin doesn't really eat chocolate, and I haven't touched them. So, I waited until last night to ask Austin about it. Just as I thought, he hadn't touch them. We started to investigate further. We found giant slobber marks all around the top of the glass bowl and very small remnants of foil. We knew that Mya couldn't have gotten up there, so that leaves one individual.... Maggie!!! Not only did she get up on the forbidden furniture, she ate the entire bowl of chocolate! What is even more remarkable, she didn't move the bowl, not even a centimeter. What a stinker! We are keeping an extra close eye on her, she will be spending the day outside.

Splish Splash

Katherine Grace had her first official bath on Sunday night. She has been getting sponge baths until now. Her umbilical cord finally fell off Sunday morning. She wasn't too happy at first but I think she started to like it towards the end. We will see how she fells about it again tonight during bath time. It should be interesting!

This Week

Katherine Grace woke up Monday morning at 3 am with some lime green goopy stuff around her right eye. I immediately got worried, thinking it was allergies or maybe even pink eye. We got into the pediatrician that morning to find out it was just a clogged tear duct. This is apparently pretty common with newborns. Treatment is just a warm rubbing with a wash cloth 3 times a day. I was relieved. The last thing I wanted was for her to be on some sort of medicine or eye drops. We also found out at the pediatrician that she has gained 8 ounces since last Friday! In just 3 days, so crazy. We are much better today. The eye junk is gone and we hope we don't have another clogged duct in the future. Here is a picture of her from the weekend. I will post more later about her first bath.

Lately...

We went to the pediatrician this morning, We have a growing girl on our hands. Her stats were:

Weight: 7 lbs 4 ounces- 25 % percentile
Length: 20 1/2 inches - 75% percentile

Her favorite things: her car seat (for an hour max), putting her hands in her mouth, eating, snuggling with mom or dad, tummy time, (for short periods of time) and taking walks.

Her dislikes: diaper changes, clothing changes, being un-swaddled, the small swing, her crib, being woken up.

 We took a walk this afternoon. We are really enjoying this weather and are so thankful for it. Please excuse the picture quality, they were taken on my Iphone. I took some other pictures with our nice camera. I will post them asap.

This is her on our walk today. We have a bassinet that fits on the top of the stroller. She loves it!
