Beep, Beep!!!

Austin got his Valentine's Day gift a little early this year. Yes, he got a scooter. In our neighborhood, they are everywhere. Lots of people -- including some of our friends -- have them, and Austin has been wanting one for a quite a while now. He has taken it everywhere this weekend. Places he has been ( that I know of ) : multiple friend's houses that live in our neighborhood, Chinese food place down the street, to his work- downtown, Cretia's  and even to Central Market. He also went on a joy ride yesterday with our good friend, Will, who has an orange Vespa. If you live in Dallas, be on the look out for this guy on his moped.

PS. Mya has been improving every day so far, we are so thankful:)

My Sweet Girl is Home!

I got to pick Mya up today from the surgery center. She seems to be in a little pain but we are going to try and be religious about giving her meds to her. She was happy to see me and I could tell that she was totally done with being there. The doctors are recommending a really quite environment, to be crated when left alone and one of us doing physical therapy with her twice a day. We knew this was going to be a huge adjustment and it will be tough but we want the best for our sweet baby. I always say, "God doesn't give you more than you can't handle." ( Did that really come out of my mouth) Thank you all for praying for her and this will be a long road to recovery so please don't stop praying quite yet:)

With lots of love, Skylar

Thank you

Thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers and kind words. I just received word that Mya's surgery went well and they were able to repair the ruptured discs.Yes, there was more than one. It was worse than originally thought so we decided after the CT results that surgery was the best option.  She will have to stay at the hospital for a few days, which is killing me but she is going to need the peace and quiet in order to fully recover. The doctor said it will be a long recovery with the possibility of some physical therapy. He was optimistic about her recovering 100% over the next few months. This experience has definitely put things into perspective. We are still praying for her speedy recovery and we are hoping that she can come home soon! Thanks again, we have the best friends and family in the world:)

Please pray for Mya

Please keep my precious Shih tzu Mya in your thoughts and prayers. We took her to the vet today and learned that she might have a ruptured disc in her back. She is going in to a specialist in the morning and getting an MRI. We will have to see the MRI results but more than likely our vet said she probably will have to surgery tomorrow. They were really positive but I want my little cuddle bug to be okay. Please pray for my sweet girl. I will keep you posted.

Snow Days

I can't believe the last two days. It all started early Tuesday morning with the sound of ice hitting our bedroom windows. I woke up to hear what sounded like someone throwing slushies at our house. It was amazing! There was snow and sleet for hours. Our driveway looks like an ice skating rink and feels like one too. I then saw that our school was cancelled, I was thrilled. It was so nice to have a day off. I cleaned up around the house, caught up with the laundry and my grad school paper. The girls also enjoyed having me around all day. Here is a short video of the girls that I took yesterday morning. The road conditions didn't improve enough yesterday so I have today off as well. Two days in a row, I am still in shock!
