For a Good Cause
I have always been a huge animal lover and advocate for them. I have become connected with a great animal adoption agency called, Paws in the City. They are having a fundraiser this year that really sparked my interest. It is "Martinis and Mutts." Drink martinis and cocktails while raising money for poor homeless and abused animals, sign me up! Here is the flyer. Tickets just went on sale this week. I hope that you can come or donate. With love, Skylar

New Obsession
I have become officially obsessed with my new women's only boot camp. Lander, the owner and instructor, is young, energetic and full of great nutritional advice. I have already seen a difference in my appetite, weight and overall well being. I feel better and more energized than I have in years. It has given me a whole new and different outlook on nutrition and working out. If you live in Dallas, you should really consider joining me!

When it is chilly outside, have some chili inside!
My chili recipe:
1 pound of lean ground beef or ground turkey meat
1 chili seasoning package or kit
1/2 onion chopped
1 can of pinto beans- drained and rinsed
1 can of water
Brown ground beef and onion together. Then mix all ingredients in a crock pot on low for a couple of hours. Stir occasionally and enjoy!

Snowy Sunday
Shortly after Austin and I got up today it started sleeting and then snowing! We were sitting in our den drinking coffee and watching it come down. It was beautiful. I knew that there was a possibility that it would snow today so yesterday, I went and stocked up at the grocery store. I love cooking in my crockpot on days like today so I decided to make a roast. It cooked all day and made the house smell so good. We had it for dinner and it was really yummy. It stopped snowing around 3. It is still really wet outside so I am wishing for a delay or a cancellation for school tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed!
PS. Our beloved camera is now officially missing. So incredibly sad. We are praying that it will still turn up.
With love, Skylar

The end of 2010
Sorry that I haven't posted in a while. I have been so busy with grad school and holiday festivities, I just didn't have time. For Christmas, we went to Tyler to see Austin's family. We had a great time with amazing food, good times and cherished memories. We left on Christmas Day and headed back to Dallas and then to Fort Worth to celebrate with my family. My mom cooked beef tenderloin, her famous party potatoes, salad and monkey bread. We then left the next morning for Colorado. We went to the Champion's beautiful house in Pagosa Springs. It is an hour outside of Durango, for those of you who didn't know:). We had two other couples come with us. Austin's mom was there and was a great hostess. Everyone skied, hung out, ate lots of yummy food and played Catch Phrase. We had a great time and hope we can go back soon. I have temporarily lost our camera but will find it soon and post some pics.
Bye for now, Skylar

NOLA
This past weekend we went to New Orleans to attend a wedding. A close highschool friend of Austin's got married. Austin flew us down and we stayed in the French Quarter and had the best time. We arrived Friday afternoon and went and met up with everyone for dinner. We then went out on Bourbon street with some of the other wedding guests. On Saturday, we got up and went and had brunch at Brennan's. It was recommended by multiple people so we decided to try it out. It was really yummy! Then we did some antique shopping and went to the wedding. The wedding was at a beautiful historic bed and breakfast on Magazine Street. The B&B was called Terrell House and was absolutely beautiful. I totally fell in love with the location. We also really lucked out with the weather. It was in the 70's until Sunday, which made the outdoor wedding even more perfect. Here are some pictures from the weekend. Bye for now, Skylar
